Cleansing a stone or crystal removes negative vobrations from it without affecting its magickal properties. Charging it programs it with energy.

Cleansing

There are many different methaods for cleansing a crystal, but the most popular ones include:

• Soaking it in saltwater or sea water for at least 24 hours.
• Holding it, with its termination pointing downwards, under cold running tap water for at least one minute.
• Placing it in direct sunlight from 10am to 2pm.
• Burying it in the earth for at least 7 days.
• Covering it with sea salt for one to seven days.
• Placing it on an Amethyst bed.
• Visualising it surrounded by white or golden light beaming from you Third Eye chakra.
• Petitioning a deity to purify and bless it.

The amount of time required for cleansing a crystal or stone depends on the amount of negative energy buildup that needs to be cleared from it. A small negativity may take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours to clear, while a large amount may require several days to a week or longer.

Charging.

Charging a stone is relatively simple and can be accomplished in the follwing manner: On the first night of a full moon (when Lunar energies are at their peak), take the crystal you wish to charge and place it in your power hand. (normally the one you write with) As you hold it, visualise your specific need or desire, and will your energy to flow from your hand into the crystal. Continue doing this until you feel that the crystal is attuned to your energies and vibrating with your personal power.

Repeat the charging process prior to each spell or ritual you perform and you will find that the effects of your gemstone sorceries will be greatly enhanced.
